Information for Inmarsat EPIRB.
Inmarsat plans to stop the EPIRB (german text)

The Inmarsat EPIRB Bake global-3 is a emergency transmitter, working with geostationary satellites of the Inmarsat systems. With the continuous contact to the satellites a fast alarm in an emergency is guaranteed.Compared to the EPIRB-systems, using the Cospas Sarsat , the INMARSAT EPIRB has an extremely short alarm time. The exact position of the damaged ship is transmitted with the built-in GPS-receiver. Also a beacon transmitter is integrated on the 121,5 MHz frequency to ease the search in a close range around the vessel.
With these standards, the global-3 is the most important safety device in an emergency.
The INMARSAT EPIRB global-3 doesn´t need additional programming.
The instrument can easyly be mounted on all kinds of vessels.
