Information for Inmarsat EPIRB.
Inmarsat plans to stop the EPIRB (german text)

The beacon with an integrated GPS records the exact position, datum and time in Standby mode. The Inmarsat Code is programmed in the beacon. With the registratio, all important ship data are associated with the 9 digit code ( ships name, type, length, owner, max amount of persons on board ...)

In the event of an emergency the system can be activated manually with the RCU and the kind of emergency can be entered. From a depth of 1,5 m below surface, the EPIRB will release from its cradle, float and transmit alarm signals.

After activating the EPIRB the emergency call will be repeated 14 times in 48 hours including the current position, course and speed.

Also available in a version (Mark 4S) with  9 GHz radar transponder (SART). The Radar transponder an be switched on/off with the RCU.

The RCU displays multiple data: position / course / speed / time / battery indicator in % / battery expiry date / Inmarsat System Code / error message in text.
With the RCU positions can be entered manually and you can switch on SART..
