with class D DSC-Controller & ATIS The VHF Radio telephone FM-2721 has been developed expecially for yachts and, as a class D instrument, it meets the international recommendations on yachts and sports boats. Beyond, this instrument is easy to operate and has lots of additional features. In the Yacht magazine test 3.2003 valued as very good ! Modular setup. The basic version of the FM-2721 consists of 3 modules: Handset with all operating elements and a hanger, transceiver (Blackbox) with an integrated DSC-Controller and antenna outlet. The handset is waterproof and suitable for Cockpit- or Flybridge mounting; the distress button lies securely in the hanger. As a space saving method, the blackbox can be mounted invisible e.g. behind the bulkhead. Basically, you need just one antenna outlet. But if you want to watch channel 70 while talking on another channel, you can connect a second antenna. (Option: second antenna outlet). Additionally, a second handset can be mounted. As a subordinate station without a distress button it is usable for marine radio telephone calls as well as for communication on board. Via NMEA input a GPS receiver should be connected for position transfer. As another option, an external, waterproof loudspeaker is available. Display and keypad. The large, backlit handset display (contrast and lighting adjustable in four steps) works as a state indicator. In the Standby mode, the channel, operation mode, DSC receiver, loudness and squelch setting and with a connected GPS receiver, position and time are indicated. While talking, the channel, operation mode, transmitter power, Simplex/Duplex, Scan/DW, loudspeaker volume setting and squelch setting are indicated. The keypad is built in a logical way, channels are chosen either alphanumerical or with the upward /downward key. Channel 16 has a separate key for quick access. A lock key can be switched in to avoid accidental channel changes. For security reasons, channel 16 and the Distress Button are excluded from this function. Functions and storage space. In Dual-Watch mode channel 16 (there are 55 international and 20 private channels) and another channel are monitored. The Scan mode monitores all channels one after another and stops, when radio communication is found. The squelch function is adjustable either automatically (AUTO SQUELCH) or manually. From channel 70 distress calls and positions (GPS connection required) can be transmitted with the distress key, either as non specified or as specified calls. Common international codes ( such as fire, collision, man over board ...) are pre-programmed. The FM-2721 has four different storages. ID- storage: up to 25 coast-, group-, or ships-ID`s with name and station type (Coast-Ship-Group) can be stored. Tel.-storage: up to 25 telephone numbers with names. Storing messages: up to 25 DSC calls with message, kind of call, ID-No. and channel can be pre-programmed. Message log: Stores up to 50 routine- plus 50 Distress calls. Not read messages are indicated; when a message log memory is full, the oldest stored message is erased to make room for the latest. Functiones:
